| gregy> Along with Eric, I will add Monika to my prayers. You've already had them, pertaining to the fire-danger...so...now...we'll just add the health-thing, too.... ... God, if God exists, knows all the details and can sort thru them... ..however, as I'm now "approaching middleage" (at 68) I find that God doesn't return/reset me to 19-year-old status...so...I (like all humans) have to put up with gradual deterioration until I die... .... <g g g g> | ||||||||||||||||||

| gregy> re: "erk" and "grunt".....hmmmmm....don't know about "erk"...but... "grunt" is a proud appelation for our infantry-frontliners....and for marines, too..... ... Me, I've been a "grunt" (10years out in southeast asia way back then) but my later/last service was as CavalryScout and Tanker(M1 Abrams) ...and so, I can't claim current-"grunt" status......<g g g> ... "erk" I don't know about....your description/definition would more correspond to our description/definition of a "jerk"....<g g g> | ||||||||||||||||||

| gregy> Ron....re: you say, "No meds....but that will have to change."... ... uuhhhh...yes...however, I subscribe to a number of "natural-type" health newsletters (written/published by M.D.s, not flacks)...and.. they ALL dis-recommend taking any of the "statin" drugs...i.e. those designed to lower your blood pressure, unless, UNLESS blood pressure is bonifidedly VERY elevated (which almost ALL people do NOT have)... ... The reason seems to be, that what the (our, here in the USA) general medical community is now doing - claiming everyone needs to have a VERRRRRY low blood pressure, a pressure range which indicates ALL US citizens need to take statins - is a dangerous fad-treatment... ....so...I, personally, will NEVER take any statins, unless my pressure got WAAAAYYY high, and wouldn't respond to normal management. ... That's just my 2-cents......and I do not recommend, one way or another. | ||||||||||||||||||

| gregy> hmmmm....Ron...I got to thinking....you're some kind of chemical whiz or whatnot, aren't you...??? I mean, isn't that how you make your living...??? ... So, you probably already know what I've written, or you know the exact opposite of what I've written....<g g g> ... So, that's my 2-cents worth, but it prolly isn't that valuable to you.....<g g g g> | ||||||||||||||||||

| Ron> Gregy, I understand what you say about "fad" blood pressure meds. Monika had a BP of 212 in the Emergency intake, it blew off her IV shunt and sprayed blood across the room. She will take what has been prescribed, on time, every time !!!!!!! | ||||||||||||||||||

| Ron> Gregy, > ....you're some kind of chemical whiz or whatnot, aren't you...??? I am an industrial chemist (Chartered Chemist, Member of the Royal Society for Chemistry), NOT a pharmacist. I have some background in drugs and poisons because it is a part of my consulting business, but in this case I will stick to the best medical advice we can get. We are under the direction of one of the biggest teaching hospitals in Melbourne, and she will go for an angiogram at another of the big ones later this month. And because Oz has one of the best public health systems in the world, the quality of care is not dependant on income - as a pensioner the very best services are free to Monika. | ||||||||||||||||||

| gregy> Ron...hmmm... "Monika had a BP of 212 in the Emergency intake, it blew off her IV shunt..." hmmm......I think that would probably fall under the WAAAAAYYY high: "....so...I, personally, will NEVER take any statins, unless my pressure got WAAAAYYY high, and wouldn't respond to normal management." <g g g g> ... Yes, I think this would NOT be a case of your Doc(s) running after any "fad" treatment(s)... ... And...yes...you should lovingly, yet firmly (perhaps with a huge club...<g g g>...) insist that she take her meds on time/all times. ....<gg g> "Monika had a BP of 212 in the Emergency intake, it blew off her IV shunt..." | ||||||||||||||||||

| Eric> Ron, Daily oatmeal and Omega-3 capules as dietary supplements can be beneficial for vascular health. They don't perform magic but current research shows that they help. Oatmeal is supposed to help lower high bad cholestrol levels in the blood. | ||||||||||||||||||
