| I even sent you the BAT file that automatically uploads all 24

| which include my 'quick-n-dirty fix' for that spam that causes the freeze-up

| Ray,    As far as I know, there is no way to tell emails that have not
| been read yet from emails already read in Arachne's inbox. I would
| rather know this than have an aborted email download start at the
| aborted email. As lomg as my inbox is empty before I start a download,
| I feel far more secure just deleting all *.cnm files in the inbox and
| starting the email download from the 1st email again until a complete
| download is accomplished without any aborts. That way is quite sure
| to avoid losing any emails. Of course, if there are emails already
| in the inbox before a new email download is started then it complicates
| things if you want to keep those "old" emails. I have Arachne Insight
| set to not delete any emails after download but leave them on the server
| until I'm sure I have a complete copy of all emails downloaded to my
| inbox. If all the emails of any given download were marked as belonging
| to that download then their deletion could easily be accomplished before
| a 2nd or 3rd or etc. attempt was tried.

| the inbox for read vs. unread mail, rather it's just a case of
| removing from the server (if that is what the user as chosen as the

| sucessfully downloaded as per normal, even if there has been an abort
| or user break, why on earth should they be downloaded again? Obviously
| it there is any problem with this it will be abandoned since you are
| quite right, we don't want to risk loosing anything. BTW, since you
| know telnet, can you answer my question?  If you've started a RETR, and
| you stop it before it's complete, how do you (or can you) restore
| command control?

| Ray,   About Telnet.....who said I knew telnet?  I did use it regularly
| several years ago to connect to the Greater Detroit FreeNet (GDFN)
| because I had to.  GDFN provided my email, website, and a webbrowser
| but had no dialup connections.  I had to connect thru my ISP (Library)
| via Telnet.  I can kind of futz around with Telnet but I really don't
| know it very well. I would have answered your question already if I
| felt competent to do so.  I was experimenting with it the other day
| and I had to reboot Arachne because I got stuck in Telnet and I couldn't
| get out and back to Arachne.  Did you try online help after starting
| Telnet? Also, L.D. had a link to Siberia for telnet help.

| then the user could better analyse emails in the inbox. Also, that

| purposes to prevent loss of emails. I don't know of any secure foolproof

| can be misplaced but it usually turns up later on in some unsuspected
| spot or mis-filed.  Most lost emails disappear  into the ether.  
| Also, especially from lists, many emails can look almost identical
| on first perusal, with only 1 or 2 lines different and hidden in between
| the identical text and graphics. Any marking to definitely distinguish
| one email from another is an aid to the user, not just in abort cases.

| pickup where the aborted download left off....AND...the first batch of
| email downloaded IS already deleted from the server, so if I lose the
| first downloaded batch, they are gone forever.  Meaning...I have to be
| extra careful about manually stashing/caching off from my RAMdisk to
| a HDD directory, anytime I get an aborted download.....I've buggered it
| up and lost a bunch...so...I'm very carefully redundant, now...<g g g>

| if my inbox has over 999 emails in it. It says "email inbox full, delete
| some emails and try download again." HOWEVER, after I delete some emails
| to make the total emails below 1000 and then try download again it does
| NOT download any more emails. Juno software has the unprocessed emails
| stored in a file on my computer. It retrieves them from that file and
| puts them into the inbox. Juno software concatenates emails into files
| that it calls folders which makes it difficult to retrieve emails without
| using the Juno software. It does not appear that Juno ever does a partial
| download. It's all or nothing.

| to get those aborts, and figured out what it was, and switched to all

| webpage because his ISP knows his IP. I have been trying to get him
| to find where Arachne is storing his IP 'cause then we can change
| arachne.cfg so he can load other webpages. He sent the results of
| the SET command,BUT AFTER he exited Arachne. I sent him step by step
| instructions how to shell out of arachne and use SET to look for
| MYIP=xx.xx.xx.xx in the environment but I haven't had a return
| response. Tell me do you have MYIP=xx.xx.xx.xx in your environment?

| download.  Press "R" before the download finishes, and video display
| of the partial page spreads way out (large fonts, wide line spacing)
| and bgcolor switches from white to dark green.  Hit "R" again to reload
| and ERROR (DOS error in upper left corner of the screen) I/O error on
| Drive R:, abort, retry, fail ?.....when I "f" or "a" it drops to a
| DOS prompt R:\ARACHNE...trying to do anything at that prompt gives me
| the I/O error back again.  C:<enter> gives me the C:prompt and I can
| "TOPDOS<enter>" launch my file manager and check my Drive R: and I find
| its directory structure (and maybe much more) wiped out, data on the
| drive is totally unusable.  The new COREbgdl has messed it up....AND
| TOPDOS's video display is badly corrupted, also.  Apparently, COREbgdl
| steps on my RAM somehow.
| 2.  With new variables installed, and COREbgdl subbed, position cursor
| over link http://news.yahoo.com/ and press <ENTER>...the download starts
| without replacing the current page displayed, I can see the download
| counter showing the page download is going normally.  The download is
| finished, and COREbgdl trys to display the page, same ERROR I/O Drive 
| R: listed above. Then a gawdawfull mess while I try to recover and
| I find the Drive R: badly stepped on, and the video RAM seems to be
| badly stepped on also, 'cause the display is badly distorted and
| corrupted.

| Remember...that OP701 EMM386 I've already reported to you that there was
| sumpin flakey about it...<g>....and I thought it was only on this P133
| box...'cause it behaved kinda normally on my 486dlc box....but...this
| problem with COREbgdl is occurring on both boxes, now, and it dimly
| looks like the EMM386 is involved...if not the actual culprit, at least
| it's being effected, and is detecting errors..

| the comparative speed was 11:81 sec. vs. 12:14 for the standard
| build using my stock speed tester .asf. IOW, you only get a 3%
