Please sign my guestbook, or leave email. The following is a rewritten version of my Master's Thesis. It was originally published by a software company. The theme here is one that has appeared in science fiction since Randall Garret first invented the "world where magic is science." My version John Cawelti was quick to point out was "futuristic; the rest of them are medieval." Also, Garret didn't do any research. Magicians in his stories just wave their hands and utter an incantation. And though this is all supposedly governed by "The Laws of Magic," he never tells you what they are. The alchemists would've laughed their heads off at such bozos. What's here is actually hard science fiction with abandoned science mixed with science fantasy imitative of Zelazny's Lord of Light.
I have also done a short story based on Ptolemaic astronomy, called ASTRONOMY DOMINAE. Even though it resembles the fables of Borges and the Cosmicomics of Calvino, it is not commercial in terms of SF magazine publication. Thus, it has found its place here on the Conscious Net. Until it is finally, ultimately outside, looking in.
