11 CUZCO LAY AN ISLAND IN THE MORNING SUN ...on the mountain peaks and high above the dense jungle below. Seven Sun, the chief priest, in his day-glo robes, solar yellow, and all his gold, looked out over the city. He awaited the return of Six Serpent, and thought of his wife, Twelve Moon--she still didn't suspect that he was having an affair with Six Serpent--and he had no idea that she'd found her own true love. He made love to Twelve Moon now, early in this hot morning; made passionate love to hide his love for another. She ministered tenderly to his needs, himself laying on his side; together they knew...eclipse. Seven Sun rose, pulling away from the tender grip of Twelve Moon. "I must go now. The King awaits, in his council chambers." "Come," she said, "Linger a little longer; love me...two times." And so the once more Sun penetrated night, finishing only after a great deal of struggle, as it was difficult for him to have two ejaculations in a row, then once more putting on his ceremonial robes and gold headdress and bracelets. A daughter of darkness, she was a Moor from the Eastern provinces--though she had converted from Islam to the cult of Quetzacoatl for his sake. For the sake of appearances on her part, not out of love for him: secretly, unknown to him, she still kept a copy of the Koran. "This Two Ways," the King said, when Seven Sun arrived in the throne room, "Apparently really is a man from another Universe. Because I've met another man from his world--and this one who claims to be a priest of whatever cult also has no ID. I find this most puzzling. What do my advisors have to say on the matter?" "So he may say," the Priest said, "But I would see some proof." "He knows this old man, who also has no ID," the King reiterated. "That is not proof," the priest replied. "He came here on the power of azot. What can you tell me about azot, High Priest?" the King asked. "I know of it," he said. "The azot advocates are a small sect. Is this other, then, this man who has no ID, an azot advocate also?" "Let us ask him," the King said. "Father Vincent, how did you come to be in this world?" The old priest stepped forward to confront his counterpart from a religion which was to him heretical, blasphemous: "I was seized out of my body and thrown through a hole--" "Seized by a drug?" the King asked. "Seized by a demon." He didn't want to admit while Two Ways was listening--sitting cuddling Six Serpent--that his old enemy Four Feathers was the one responsible. "I tell you, he is a Warlock," Seven Sun said. "And this Two Ways--he is a spy; and Dawn is an agitator. They should all be put to death!" Hanco Capac said, "Justice and mercy stay my hand. Instead of executing them, as you, my High Priest, ask, we will convene a council. All the nobles from throughout the land--and their priests--will report to the throne room tomorrow at noon." Thirteen Alligator went off to deliver the message by radio-- Meanwhile, Seven Sun caught up to Six Serpent while Twelve Moon painted her nails. She thought, I will need to be sexy and seductive if I am to take my husband away from that Serpent girl. That woman is like her name, she is a snake, preying on other's men. But I can fight back: I will go and see Six Serpent--now. She set out across the marble floors of the palace, when she saw them, talking in the shadows. There she is now, Twelve Moon thought. I'd better hide. She hid behind a pillar, pressing close, breasts tight against the marble column as though she were pressing them to a man in love, peering suspiciously around the edges to spy on the two. When Six Serpent had left she hurried to catch up to the other. "Six Serpent...I must talk to you," Twelve Moon said, walking up briskly to the young lady, heels clicking authori- tatively, her boots which were like those worn in the Eastern Provinces, Spanish boots of leather; not like the Navajo style boots with soft soles imported from North America which Six Serpent was wearing. "Why? What's the matter?" Six Serpent asked demurely. "Don't mock me!" Seven Moon exclaimed, angry now: "You've been having a love affair with my husband." "Had, you mean," Six Serpent said. "I just told him it was over. From now on there is only one for me--Two Ways. I was just coming to you to ask you if you wanted to be friends." "Well--" she asked suspiciously, "What can you do for me? Could do, if we were friends?" "Teach you how to walk with a jiggle in your walk, like I do. That way you can be a Sex Serpent, too, seduce as many men as you want--and have a tool to fight back with if your husband has another affair." "Don't be snide with me. I already loved him two times this morning--he was asking for a date, wasn't he?" the black woman said. "Yes, he asked for a date--and I turned him down. I told him I already have a lover. And I will find a way to put you and your husband back together again, I promise." A little after all this went on the High Priest walked up to a balcony, which overlooked a sheer cliff. Suddenly there were footsteps behind him. He turned. It was Six Serpent. "Hi, honey," he said, smooching up to her. "Don't you 'Hi, honey' me!" Six Serpent ejaculated. "Your wife found out about our affair. And it's over. Can't you get that through your head? It's over! I don't want to see you again! I'm in love with the stranger from another world, and if really, really care about me...you'll stop making passes at me!" She turned and sped off, into the deepening day. I must kill Two Ways, the jealous priest thought. With Two Ways dead Six Serpent's love for me will return, and I can seek a divorce from my wife. Two Ways must be executed! #
