It
was indeed a sad day for the blues when
Rory died. I remember first hearing Live! In Europe; my friend Rick
Neuwerth had a music store. Within 2 or 3 times of hearing it , I
got the fever. I was hooked on Rory Gallagher. I managed to get quite
a collection of his recordings, 3 by Taste. Over a dozen Rory Gallagher.
I was into the blues back in High School. I'd get an album of his and immediatley
tape it, so as not to wear it out. Playin' the blues, especially Rory's,
helped me feel better after a bad day or sad news. I picked up what
I thought was a best of his (Sad Day For The Blues), I read the liner notes
and came upon Rory's passing; I was so devastated that I cried. I
debated if I would play the cd or not. Well I did, life goes on. Rory would
have wanted me to play it; and yes, it did help me feel a little
better. I don't know who first said it, but "the
blues ain't Nothin' but a good man feeling bad"".
Couldn't be truer. Remember "Muddy Waters invented 'lectricity".
Rory's music could make your hair stand on edge!
