I first saw Rory play live at the Glasgow Appollo in the early 7os. The show was electric and simply blew me away - have been an avid fan ever since - if there's a better blues/rock guitarist around. I've yet to hear him.

Hi, I'm still reeling from the Rory concerts in the National Stadium in Dublin in the 70's and 80's - thanks Rory for all the great memories. I'm looking for a full size poster of Rory in good condition which I'm willing to pay for or may exchange a couple of Rory vinyl albums. Thanks

I was 15 when I first heard Rory's Blister on the Moon album back in 1970. Ive followed the master ever since, even roady'ing for him and band at Leeds uni and Lancaster uni the day after with my good friend Clive. We just turned up at the back stage door and were invited to haul some gear in for him! What an experience! thanks Rory

I don't know much about Rory Gallagher but from the moment I heard his music I loved it and I can say that they don't make them like him anymore. He is quite famous here in Greece and I know many people at my age who would exchange their 15 years just to see him live.

I have been a huge fan since bying Live in Europe (aged 15) The album was in a record store window & I went in & bought it unheard, he just looked so cool on the cover. I have never done that before. I saw him live seven or eight times, and met him twice (in pubs) very briefly. I have now almost replaced all my records with cd's. God I miss him. G...

Hello! I live in Marseille, in the south of France (that's the reason why my english is sometimes incorrect...). I had the good luck to see Rory in Marseille in 1975, and it's the most fantastic concert I ever saw. We were about 4000 persons in the hall concert, but because of the unpretentiousness of Rory the concert seemed to be an intimate gathering of old friends. I have some pictures (black and white)I could send to you, if you want. Friendly André

Hello I finally decided to sell parts of my 'double' collection. I have LOTS of RORY GALLAGHER collectable items to sell , like LPs, RARE LPS, BOOTLEG LPS!!!!, SINGLES , ORIGINAL BOOTLEG CDS!!!, PROMO's, MAGAZINES, etc. I can use the money to buy items for my own collection. It's getting hard to find traders with items I don't have. The items I want are hard to find. I do have a huge cdr rory-live-show-list for traders. I'm not a dealer...just a fan who wants to enlarge his collection. interested??? mail me; buis@zeelandnet.nl bye Gino

I was a fan from the instant I heard him. Saw him live in a 500 person bar in Ottawa in November, 1982. Unbelievable. No crap, he just played. To this day one of the best shows I've ever seen. Favourite studio: Photo-finish, live: Live in Europe. Was in Ireland in '98, and most people I drank with were surprised that a Canadian would be such a fan. Hell, why not?

Up until then I played regular stuff-Radiohead etc-but after I heard Rory, the blues was all I played. I learned I Fall Apart in two days. Thanks Rory.

I've am very sorry to say that I've never heard of Rory Gallagher, untill I went looking for him on the Net today. I've found some old negatives in a box from an concert some where in 1978, 1979 or 1980. Maybe somebody would like to help me find out where the pictures are taken???Or maybe somebody is interrested in the photos??? There not of an great quality, but might be very important for a fan. Good to read of like-minded people. Rory was the most under-rated guitarist and entertainer, also a great bloke according to Pete Frame (author of the Rock Family Tree who lives near Aylesbury), and many others. Have been a fan since Tattoo was issued. Been to a few gigs many years ago; regret not going to more, and not meeting the man himself. Keep the interest going for future Rory fans to discover. 10 April 2000

RORY, i've been a fan for more than 28 years now. I often saw him on stage during the 70's and will never forget his excellent performances. To me, Rory is the greatest guitar-player, songwriter and musician of all time. Although I often saw him on stage and own all his LPs and CDs, it makes me sad to think that he's dead. I will always love him. 14.06.1995 A BLUE DAY FOR THE BLUES !!!!

I have been a big fan since I first heard a freinds older brother's copy of "Tattoo". It wasn't long after that I bought the record from him for $5 (I don't think he asked his brother, who was most likely to stoned to notice anyways). Since then I've bought everything and anything I can, including old Taste and special appreances (i.e. Peter green Tribute). I'm waiting fot the last 4 remasters to come out this month. My wife still doesn't understand why I need to buy these CD's again, and I guess she never will.

The year is 1976. The country: Switzerland. The city: Basel. The date: Around February/March 1976. Although I already had knowledge of the existence of Rory Gallagher, I knew almost nothing about his music at that time. However, during my stay in Switzerland during that time, I bought a ticket and went to see Rory in Basel. The place was packed with lots of people around my age (20), even younger girls screamed at him (it reminded me of Beatlemania). His playing was terrific, he just launched Against the Grain. For almost two hours he played and improvised a lot with his legendary guitar. From that moment, I became a Rory follower. In fact, I went with the train on the next day to Zürich to see him perform again at the Volkshaus. I remember that radio stations were advertising his apperance signing autographs at a famous record store called Diskotheque. Unfortunately, I arrived late for the gathering. I took some pictures of him at one of the concerts, and still have in my personal files the concert tickets. At the time (end of 75, start of 76) I was into the Who, David Bowie, the Stones. I added Rory to my list. Last week I bought Rory´s BBC Sessions new CD, and started to remember the date I saw him in Switzerland. Twenty Three years have passed (my god, how old I am), but everytime I hear Rory´s guitar, I feel fresh and superb.

Rory was the best guitar player and bluesman I've ever heard. The last time I saw him was an acoustic gig in Cork Arts Week in late 1993, I think it was his last Cork gig. He's a big hero here in his hometown although it's sad that most teenagers today don't know much about him. Last year one of the main squares in Cork was renamed "Rory Gallagher Place". Rory you did us all proud boy!

I've loved Rory since 1972, there is such a deep void now that he is gone & it pains me nearly every day to know that he is not with us, and that I never did meet him. I am a fulltime blues/rock guitarist..of the old school and I play a 1960 strat just like Rory's 61. And he was one of the several players that I learned from. In the 1990's I toured in Noel Redding's band and he did know Rory, and told us that he was as nice a man as ever was, and I believe that Rory the person was a big part of his beauty. God bless you Rory, over and over.....

Just wanted to say hello again and say that I´m so happy because I got two more Rory´s CD (Top Prioriry and Defender) they´re great. Just last week I´ve showed them to my friends and they loved it, we drove thru the streets of Monterrey with Rory´s music, we also played Deuce and Photofinish. We went crazy listening to "I´m not awaked yet","Hellcat","Brute force","Crest of a wave","I ain´t no saint". It was our little tribute for the 4th year without Rory. Rory´s music lives and still moves us. Take care.

Thanks for a great Rory tribute site! I only saw him once (Washington D.C. @ the Roxy '85 or '86) but I'd been a fan for over ten years by then and was BLOWN AWAY. It was surreal standing in front of the stage waiting for the show to start after a decade of anticipating how great it would be to see him. Rory's playing easily outpaced my already lofty expectations. I'll never forget how he broke a string on his old Strat during a slow blues number and changed it while McCavoy and O'Neill kept jammin'. He then jumped back in, bringing the intensity up yet another notch. I've done quite a bit of travelling and it's always great to run into someone who knows Rory.....Thanks again

I'm glad to see some sites on one of the most influential guitarists on me. I actually cried when I heard Rory had moved on. Living in Atlanta, I guess I didn't have as many chances to see him live as some one in Europe, but I did get the opportunity to see him a couple of times. The one that stands out is when I saw him open for Jethro Tull (another of my favorites),and I wasn't ready for him to leave the stage. He really kicked ass! I recently rented rented "The Isle Of White", and while I was thinking it would be nice if the makers of the film had been a little less intrested in the politics, I was amazed to see a short of Rory in "THE TASTE". There were also a number of other greats on the video, but I really would love to see some videos of Rory! If you have any suggestions please send me a line.

Hi! Thanks for this tribute! When I first "discovered" Rory's music (which was unfortunately only about two years ago) I thought I was the only person far and wide knowing this man. But since I've come to the internet I've learned that there are ever so many more people enjoying Rory's wonderful music at least as much as I do. Lately I've been to a tribut to Rory in Holland (Leeuwarde), the only possibility for "latecomers" like me to experience his music live, and I was pleased to see that there were more people like me who've discovered him only in recent time and have become addicts right from the start. So he won't be forgotten, also thanks to sites like yours. RORY ON!!! karin

Keith, Thanks for the information on the lyrics! You have a beautiful site here--No doubt that Rory would be proud of this. I'm sure this is one of the ways that he would have liked to see his memory preserved. I think his work is like that of many famous painters in that the true appreciation comes only after their passing. Best wishes, Craig

Thanks for this great site.Rory´s music is not very pupular in my hometown, but some friends and I find Rory´s music wonderful. I just bought "Photo finish" on CD and has become my favorite,it sounds great on a three piece band, every one of the songs are great, specially "Brute force and ignorance", "Overnight bag" and "Fuel to the fire". I also like other Rory´s CD´s such as "Calling card","Irish tour 74" and "Deuce". Rory´s playing is from the heart, I love when his guitar becomes a second voice. Thanks again. Mario Elizondo.

Keep up the good work I have been a Rory fan since I was 16 back in 1972 and constantly play his music. It's good to know that there are still faithful fans out there.

Rory is the BEST! His style is unmatched with the blues. I'm glad there are so many fans. Hey, Jim, if your out there "After the Goldrush" in Phoenix was awesome. He blew the roof off!!! Lucky enough to meet him back stage and chat. Try and listen to Bullfrog Blues at least once a month!!

First listened to Rory in the early 70's. Not many girls listening to and appreciating someone like Rory back then. I was just out of high school and playing guitar on the sly. Rory knocked me out. In 1985 met a young man in a college extension marketing class. He asked me, "who's one of your favorite guitar players." I replied, "Rory Gallagher", expecting no response. But!!! He was 10 years younger than me and knew who Rory was. A few weeks later he brought me a cassette tape I have to this very day, a collection of wonderful tunes I cherish. We went to see Rory in Palo Alto, California at the Keystone. I have photos. In the early '90's I heard Rory at a club in Santa Clara around St. Patrick's day. Looked for him ever since. Didn't know he was gone... I have no clue how many people love Rory-- only 3 or 4 thousand in WebLand? You gotta be kidding?! I can't believe how selfishly complacent I was about Rory's mortality... He was great, I listened, I learned... I guess I took him for granted. But just tonight drifting about the Web, I see he's gone and I feel like a jerk. I should perhaps, have been more vigilant. Enough of the hair shirt. Rory...one of a kind. I love ya. Jake (Denise) Freeman

Great to see a tribute page to the great man! I saw Rory only the one time at the Palais in Melbourne years ago, still the best concert by far that I have ever seen. Like you all, I am sad too that he is no longer with us, but I am glad to share this tribute, and in this way keep his memory alive. He was the best ever!!!!

Wow - Just came across all these Rory sites - At first I was having a good time - looking at all the photos and reading all the old text - and those tributes - and then I got sad - I forgot how much I miss seeing and hearing him live - I must have seen at least twenty or so Rory shows throughout my life - I came across A photo of Rory at the Bottom Line in NYC on one of these sites - I was at that show - It flooded me with memories - I'm a Singer/Songwriter - www.alanandrews.com and I've recently done some shows at the Bottom Line with Rick Danko & Kinky friedman - Everytime I saw Rory play in a bar or small club I always took notice of the fact that he always carried his own guitar into the club - It felt so great when I got my chance to play a place where I had seen Rory so many times - As a small tribute or at least a wink to R.G. - I walked into the club guitar case in hand and right on stage - I'm sure no one knew or gave a damn - but I knew - I miss Rory - Alan Andrews NYC

As an old fan - bought his records since 1970 - I'm very glad that Rory's memory is kept alive through the Internet. I saw him live seven times, also at one of his last concerts in january 1995, when he was already seriously ill. Even then he showed that he loved playing for us, hard working as ever. It was unforgettable.

I just dropped by your site to waste some time while waiting for an e-mail from Stellar on how to upload from DOSNET. The program I was complaining about the other night..? Well, they sad it wouldn't work with binary text--in short, ASCII text-files. The guest book was the first thing to come up on the screen, so I can't say I've looked around the whole thing, but I'm going to try for the Kingdom if I can, and what Velvet Underground album does that come off of? A couple guys wrote in saying they've added a link to my website on theirs, and I'm starting to get e-mail on it. I also received some e-mail from a Hindu guy whose web page I stumbled on researching ARN (the first three chapters are on my home-page.) I introduced him to my brother Jerry, who recently completed his PhD in South Asian Studies.

High there, new in the Internet I am glad to have found something 'bout Rory. Saw him live 'bout 5 times in Germany, first time in maybe 1980 or something. Tried to visit him on an Ireland Holiday in Ballyshannon but he had already moved to the USA. Keep him in Mind - he's worth it! Thanx a lot Rory!
