Luke was born August 2,1894 to Johnny & Mary Ann Whalen. 4th born amoung 10 children. Two baby brothers(John Edmund & Julian)died before he was born.During the 1st World war Lukewas in the infantry. During the dirty thirties he worked in the oil fields of South America, in Venezuela. When they started building Boulder, now known as Hoover Dam, he got on there during the construction.He retired after spending the majority of his working life as a maintinance man and later as the maintinance forman at the dam.

married Lil Hastings
I
got to meet my Great Uncle Luke in 1972 on a family trip on which my Uncle
Stepehn Whalen was along. We got the dam tour. Luke's dam tour & not
the tourist one. We sa things you normally didn't. Thank you Great Uncle
Luke.
