"BETTE LOU"

Elizabeth Louise Whalen was born April 9, 1926. "Bette" was 5th among 6 brothers and one sister. On growing up, what she remembers most is how hard working and caring her parents were, and they lived their religion as far as being good examples for their children and feeling loved and accepted by the family.

She attended grade school in District 97, then High School at Stephen High School in Stephen, Minnesota. Continuing her education at the Collage Of Saint Catherine in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Where she went through and graduated nursing. She was in the Cadet Nurse Corps which was under the army and paid for her training. This was during World War 2. She has lived in Hanford, California since September 1948, and is a Registered Nurse working in the Hanford area since 1948

 
WHOSE WHO??

On August 23, 1950 she became the bride of Keith Erwin Thayer at St. Stephen's Church in Stephen, Minnesota. Her parents James andMaysie were the first couple married in St. Stephen's Church. Keith and Bette have three children: Gregory Charles born August 21, 1951, Nicole Joanne born November 21, 1952 and Daniel Patrick born December 29, 1955. All were born in Hanford, California.She began working in Hanford at King's Hospital in September 1948 until September 1966. Then for Dr. Guernsey and Dr. Hale from September 1966 - September 1983. Kings County Corrections Nurse February 1984 to September 1989.
