A master artist that played slashing slide guitar with voice that was tough, the sign of a man who had seen his share of good and evil. He was also a powerful songwriter and interpreter. He was a powerful stage performer and recording artist. Muddy helped with the merge of deep Mississippi Delta blues with the hard edged urban electric Chicago blues, bringing together the the old and the new blues. He also helped the blues guitar sound.

Although other blues men had recorded with the electric guitar before Muddy his importance as an innovative is substantial. His guitar work wa as raw and executed with the same urgency as the blues by ROBERT JOHNSON, one of his mentors.
